I have received a few queries from students concerning exam policies and logistics, so I’ll devote this blog entry to providing this information:

  • Time and place for the exam.  The exam will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, and will take place in the first floor auditorium.  It will end by no later than 10 p.m., but I expect that many of you will complete the exam well before 10 p.m. ever rolls around.
  • Exam policies.  As I have previously indicated in class, the exam is open-book, open-note, but not open-neighbor.  You are welcome to use a computer and/or a calculator during the exam. Most scientific and financial calculators have more than enough horsepower to handle any exam questions that I could possibly throw your way. If you decide to use your laptop, it’s okay so long as you set the wireless switch to the “off” position; I believe that this switch is marked with aWireless switchicon and is located on the right panel of Dell laptops that were issued to you by the Baylor EMBA program.  In other words, no use of Internet will be allowed during the exam.
  • Nature of the exam.  The exam will be similar in nature to the sample midterm exam questions that I have posted on the course website (see Sample Midterm Exam (Solutions) and Sample Midterm Exam II (Solutions)).  In other words, it will be a multiple choice exam consisting of problems and concept questions.

When I pass the exam out, you’ll receive a Scantron form, an exam booklet, and a “blue” book. The purpose of the blue book is to provide you with the “scratch” paper that you may need to solve problems. If you like, you may also bring along your own tablet of paper for this purpose. Please also bring along some #2 pencils as these are needed for filling in your responses on the Scantron form.  When you turn your exam in, all I will need from you will be the Scantron form. You can take your exam booklet and blue book with you when you leave.

  • Posting of Grades and Solutions for the Exam. I hope to post grades on Blackboard and solutions on the course website by Sunday, 11/15 at the very latest.  I will notify you by email when I post this information, and these emails will also appear on the class blog.

Let me know if any of you have any questions or concerns about the exam. See you soon!
